John Swift QC (OB 1951-58) has been Chairman of the Judges of the National Rail Awards since 2003. This body celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. John was the UK’s first Rail Regulator, appointed under the Railways Act 1993, and served from 1993 to i998. In 1998 he returned to full time practice at the Bar, including a period as Head of Monckton Chambers, Grays Inn, until he retired in 2004.
In 1995 he delivered one of the Sixth Form Friday Lectures and was afterwards a guest at lunch, which was hosted by Headmaster Stuart Haggett.
